Will the Domestics Become Imports?

by The Yank

Lets be honest…. Beer is absolutely delicious.  This may be the only subject that everyone on this site universally agrees with all year.

But if you want to make it a debate then start asking people what their favorite type of beer is.  My personal favorite is Guinness, but when I don’t feel like having an entire meal I go with Newcastle.  In both cases the beer is a delicous Great Britain import that is (in my opinion) far better then the home grown products up against it here in the States.

Now that I have offended every American who thinks Budweiser tastes better then say any of the thousand of European beers lets move on.

Just like one Yanks love of European ale, La Liga also has a love of Great Britain’s finest products, footballers.  It is being reported that Cristiano Ronaldo is the big distributor of hopes that Wayne Rooney will join los galicticos coming up shortly.  Rooney has not commented on the potential move away from the Premier League, but his former teammate remains very confident that the two will be reunited one day as players for the same squad in Spain.

What if Rooney were to leave the Premier League?  Would that damage the thinking process of other England national players or will the new homegrown rule take its immediate effect on Englishman’s way of thinking.  There are still plenty of Premier League squads doing just fine in the budget, but with some of the deals being done at Barcelona and Real Madrid would a beloved English player jump ship?

Of course it has happened in the past with David Beckham’s global soccer tour and even Michael Owen’s brief stint in La Liga, but would a player in his prime like Wayne Rooney ever consider leaving the team that made him a star?

Lets hope not.  But you never really know what will happen in modern day, multi-million dollar sports.

After all Budweiser isn’t even owned by Americans.
