Wayne Bridge’s name has been in the news a lot recently and I am sure the Manchester City and English national team defender wishes it was not the case. The former teammate of John Terry and the Chelsea Blues squad has heard plenty in the last few weeks about the rumors and allegations that his former club’s captain was recently caught having an affair with his ex-girlfriend. And having been out with a knee injury since early December probably doesn’t help matters much when your personal life begins to unravel like Bridge’s has in the last week.
But with this weekend’s match against Hull City coming up, Bridge is expected to be back in the lineup and hopefully he can put this story behind him by playing outstanding football for the remainder of the year for Manchester City. Bridge’s new coach Roberto Mancini has the club playing great, during Bridge’s injury absence, and the club has already shown their support for Bridge by sporting TEAM BRIDGE t-shirts under their jerseys last week.
Mancini has been questioned about the Bridge-Terry situation, but the Italian is too smart to go down the path of Bridge’s personal life and claimed that any private issues “are not important.” Mancini knows Bridge wants to get back on the pitch and right now avoiding the media questions and playing football should be the only thing on his mind.
Manchester City also are likely to have Joleon Lescott back in the lineup and maybe even Patrick Vieira as well.
