Premier League Top Performers (Week 3)

Emmanuel Adebayor

Adebayor has been arguably the best transfer of any player for any club so far this season.  The forward scored within minutes of his debut for Manchester City and has scored three goals in three league matches for his new club.  For the second straight week, Adebayor scored the lone goal in the match in a road win over Portsmouth.  Adebayor has made the difference so far for the Blues this season and the club is thankful for the key addition.  The Blues were a perfect 3-0 in league matches in August.

Leighton Baines

When you’ve had the start Everton has had you need defenders like Baines to not only secure the defensive side of the pitch, but also help aid the offense.  Baines stepped up big for his club this last weekend.  Down 1-0 in the second half against his own former club, Wigan Athletic, Baines was able to send a beautiful corner kick into Saha who headed it home to tie up the match.  Then three minutes into extra-time, Jo gets taken down in the box and Everton calls on Baines to finish off the match against his former squad.  Baines got the job done; Everton wins 2-0.

Aaron Lennon & Peter Crouch

It was a good week for the two Tottenham Hotspur players.  The Spurs are not only in a joint-lead of the league table (Chelsea is the other club with 12 points), but Lennon and Crouch were also just named to the September England national squad.  The duo celebrated the honor by each scoring a goal in a 2-1 home victory over new boys Birmingham City.  Crouch would score in the 71st minute and Lennon would seal the win with a goal in the 90th.
