PLTO Premier League Tuesday Review

by The Yank

Another week of the best football league is in the books and once again we have discovered a new leader on the top of the league table.  It seems as if that might be a trend this season between the Manchester United Red Devils and the Chelsea Blues, but for right this second the advantage leans in Chelsea’s favor.

Chelsea defeated Blackburn to seize the top spot and the win left few doubters that the Blues are the league’s best.  Chelsea scored five goals on their opponent and did not allow any in the match.  Manchester United, on the other hand, was not so lucky discovering the offense against Liverpool.  The bad spell may have ended for good for the Reds, but they were able to shutout Man U with a 2-0 victory.

As for some of the other strong clubs results: Tottenham Hotspur was upset at home against Stoke City.  The Spurs could not discover that offense and the final was 1-0.  Manchester City and Fulham would tie 2-2 in a match that went back and forth the whole time.  Clint Dempsey made us Yanks proud with the draw-securing goal in the 68th minute for Fulham.  Arsenal managed a draw against West Ham 2-2 in a road match for the Gunners.

As for the rest of the matches: The Wolves were able to seek a draw against Aston Villa in a 1-1 nailbiter.  The point moves the Wolves out of the relegation zone for now.  In the battle of bad teams Hull City VS Portsmouth, neither team could score and the final was a rather dull 0-0.  And for the final match Birmingham City pulled off perhaps the most surprising upset of the week when they handed red hot Sunderland a 2-1 loss.
