Robin Van Persie
Van Persie was the Gunners go-to-guy in the Match of the Week as Arsenal defeated Tottenham 3-0. Van Persie would score twice in the critical match and the result continues to push the Gunners towards the top of the league table. Van Persie has seven goals and six assists on the year putting him in the top five in total points of all Premier League players this season. Also the club has only lost once when Van Persie scores.
Aruna Dindane
A week ago Aruna Dindane was likely not a happy camper. The Ivory Coast national star had yet to find the back of the net in his Premier league debut, but that would all change last weekend against Wigan. And like they say when it rains it pours. Dindane scored three goals for the lowly last place club and now Portmouth is nearly out of the last place den and back into civilization once again. And their new player from the French leagues is the person to thank. Hats off!
Graham Alexander
At thirty-eight Mr. Alexander seems to be a more suiting title for Bari’s experienced defender, but last weekend Alexander introduced everyone in to his alter ego, Goal Scoring Graham. Alexander scored two goals in Burnley victory over Hull City and further established themselves as a true Premier League squad. And the defense also provided a shutout. Not a bad day for an old man.
It was a special stretch of days for Wayne Rooney who not only found the back of the net with a decisive goal in a 2-0 victory over Blackburn, but the England star also became a father for the first time. Congrats Wayne! Now good luck getting sleep.
