1) Wayne Rooney- Man U
Rooney has enjoyed becoming the featured player this season and the Englishman might just be heating up now that the second half of the season is underway. Rooney was in a dead heat with most of the other Premier League stars, but his outstanding play in the last few weeks has put him five goals ahead of the rest of the pack. Rooney has also seen his club enjoy surprising results this year and going into last weekend’s match the Red Devils were in first place. Not too shabby for one of England’s best.
Drogba has been away from the league the last few weeks due to national duties, but when the Ivory Coast star is out there nobody in the Premier League can match his offensive performances. If Didi can avoid injuries over the course of the year then he has to be considered the best forward in the league. And don’t count Chelsea out of the title race yet. When Drogba is around the Blues are the club to beat.
3) Jermain Defoe- Tottenham
Defoe has not been the most consistent scorer, but the Englishman is among the best. Currently at 14 goals you can not count out this explosive player for one of the league’s most explosive offenses.
4) Carlos Tevez-Man City
He isn’t the most well liked player in the league, but since Mancini has taken over Carlos Tevez has responded. Can the Argentine great finish strong? We will have to wait and see. but Tevez has been one of the best in the last month of action.
5) Darren Bent- Sunderland
Our Transfer of the Year is right in it despite playing for a club that is not as dominant as the other boys on the list. Bent has been great though.
