1) Petr Cech- Chelsea
Many critics believe that the star keeper has taken a step backwards over the last year, but Petr Cech still has the most clean sheets of any Premier League keeper and should be on the top of the list by season’s end. Cech has had nine different matches in which he did not allow a single goal and the helmet-clad goalie should finish the year strong with Terry managing the defensive unit.
2) Brad Friedel- Aston Villa
Aging keeper Friedel is only one clean sheet back from the leader and his Villa defense has arguably been the best of any top level squad this season. You have to expect that the old man will miss at least a few matches down the stretch, but for now Friedel is among the elite fixtures between the posts in England.
3) Joe Hart- Birmingham
He may not be the most well known keeper today, but if young Joe Hart keeps performing at the high level he has this season then you will hear his name for many more years to come. Hart is also only one clean sheet back from Cech and he has done it without a competitive pay roll this year for his defense. Pretty impressive stuff.
4) Pepe Reina- Liverpool
Many of the Reds have expressed their faith in Reina and many believe that he is in fact the best player between the posts in the entire world. And although Reina has kept the Reds in many matches his defensive unit has not done him any favors either. He deserves to be higher up the list, but for now Reina is our #4.
