1) Alex McLeish/Birmingham
That’s right folks I have a surprise for you. The other Premier League manager named Alex has impressed so far this season with his newboys currently residing in 8th place and one single point behind Liverpool. If you had told me this strong start would happen before the season had started then I would have thought you were off your rocker. But the surprising club currently has an eleven game unbeaten streak that has been one of the best runs of any club this season in any major league. With Man U, Chelsea, and Tottenham coming up in the next four matches that streak will not last, but Birmingham should enjoy their moment in the spotlight and away from the relegation zone.
2) Arsene Wenger/Arsenal
Wenger has found ways to win despite suffering the loss of critical players. The Gunners have scored the most goals of any club this season and that is especially impressive considering three of their best offensive players (Walcott, Van Persie, Bendtner) have hardly played at all.
3) Carlo Ancelotti/Chelsea
Currently in first place in the league Ancelotti has his club in strong form and searching for a double this season, but injuries and international departures may doom his hopes of winning this award. But if they win the title despite these issues then it is hard not to give the Italian the honor.
4) Alex Ferguson/Manchester United
Not the most loved coach this season by many fans, critics, sports writers, and referees. But Fergie has proven once again that he can compete with the league’s best and make it a hard fight to win the Premiership this season. His second place position is impressive considering the transfer losses the Red Devils endured, but Fergie is the man. And that could propel his club to the top.
5) Harry Redknapp/Tottenham Hotspur
Redknapp has motivated his highly potent offensive club to top four results so far this year. Will Tottenham remain relevant or trail off as the season progresses? We will have to wait and see, but having Redknapp in their corner should only help their end of the year results.
