Manchester United and Bharti Airtel, the largest mobile operator in India, have signed a five-year deal worth an estimated GBP 100 million to the Premier League super club.

The announcement was made earlier this week by Airtel, one of the top telecom service providers in Asia. As a result, Airtel’s 94 million subscribers in India, Sri Lanka, and the Seychelles will gain access to Manchester United related content via theior mobile phones.

This is a win for both sides as Manchester United is the most popular English club in India with about 12 millions fans, and now Airtel gets to tap into that market. Manchester United in return receive an amazing GBP 20 million per year, which will be enough to buy one additional superstar in each of the next five years!

Bharti Airtel Deputy CEO Sanjay Kapoor revealed the details of the partnership with United CEO David Gill. Kapoor expressed his delight at the newly-formed partnership, calling Manchester United ‘a powerful global brand with huge following across the world an in India.’

David Gill commented on the deal as well, indicating that the agreement shows the ‘enduring strength’ of Manchester United on an international level.

In today’s economy this is a huge deal for Manchester United and shows the strength of the United brand throughout the world.
