Isn’t That Collusion?

The bull’s gonna get taken by the horns if Rafa has anything to do with it.

Rafa Benitez REALLY has a man-crush on Fernando Torres.  First, he said he was walking if Liverpool sold him.  Now he’s saying that he’s got a “special relationship” that will protect his man-crush during the World Cup.  Huh?

You know how guys go off to war and they ask their buddy to look after their wife and kids?  Or, a dude says, “You take good care of them for me!”  Yeah, this is what that sounds like.  It’s a little creepy.

Apparently, Rafa believes that his relationship with the Spanish National Coach will prevent Torres from being overused and possibly getting him injured again.  Huh?

You know, if I were the Spanish National Coach I’d do whatever I had to do to win the World Cup.  Frankly, I could care less about what club-league managers have to say about a player’s minutes.  That’s completely immaterial.  If you want to control his minutes so bad then you need to ask for my job!

On that point, isn’t it collusion if you conspire with another professional to control the flow and outcome of a game?  I’m just saying.  Don’t you think it’s odd that Rafa thinks he:

1.  Needs this relationship to protect his man-crush.

2.  Needs to control Torres’ minutes.

and

3.  Talk about it to the press.

I mean, let’s say Spain has a bad showing in the World Cup and the use of Torres is questioned.  Don’t you think the media is going to be all over this?

What if he hadn’t said anything to the media?  He could just deny the whole thing and nobody would ever really know what happened.  We’d only be able to speculate.  Now, if Spain loses even one match it might be squarely on Rafa’s head.

Oops!  Does he really want to take that kind of heat?  Just like Ferris Bueller said:  “Dude, you can’t take that kind of heat!”
