The Hull City Tigers have all the odds against them. This off-season they discovered that most players with the talent to play for the club would prefer to be role players for more historically successful clubs. Take Michael Owen for example. He spurned the Tigers for a sub spot on Manchester United. Forwards Daryl Murphy and Bobby Zamora gave Hull City the same treatment and the club was left with few options.
Only surviving relegation by a single point last season, Hull City knew that they needed some new ingredients to give the club that perfect concoction. A few weeks back the Tigers began making positive ground by the transfer loan of Villareal’s Jozy Altidore. Altidore made himself welcome at KC Stadium right off the bat. The striker scored on a free kick in the Carling Cup and then a few days later in his first regular season action, the striker subbed in and immediately set up the loan goal of the competition.
Now the Tigers have added another forward to the club. Jan Venegoor of Hesseling was actually not acquired through the transfer window, but as an unsigned free agent. Jan played for Celtic last season and was considered one of the finest goal scorers in the Scottish league and also one of the most coveted unsigned players in the world. Hull City chairman Paul Duffy proudly claimed to have fought for the player and won him away from bigger clubs. Expect Jan’s European goal scoring experience to blend well with young additions like Altidore.

I think they had no choice, the team finished badly last season after a good start.
