Blackburn Hope To Sign Pedersen To New Deal

According to Chris Flanagan at the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, Blackburn hope to sign winger Morten Gamst Pedersen to a new deal. However the deal will most likely take time. Blackburn chairman John Williams said,

“That’s something that we will look at over the next couple of weeks … I will have to sit down and talk to Sam [Allardyce] about Morten’s situation, but I think all parties are willing to get something sorted.”

Juventus Have Not Made An Offer For Dossena

According to Sky Sports News, Juventus have not yet made an approach for Liverpool defender Andrea Dossena. His agent Roberto La Florio said,

“At the moment, there are no updates … The Bianconeri club (Juventus) have yet to decide whether to consider my client or (Lyon’s) Fabio Grosso.”

“If they decide to target my client then we would evaluate the offer … He (Dossena) is happy at Liverpool but Juventus is Juventus, and he’s a little nostalgic for Italy.”

Defour Would Love Playing For Liverpool Or Aston Villa

According to Toby Davis at Setanta Sports, Standard Liege midfielder Steven Defour would love to play for Liverpool or Aston Villa. His agent Paul Sefani told Nieuwsblad,

“There has been a lot of interest, but Standard have yet to receive any official bids … Aston Villa and Liverpool are great clubs where Steven would certainly enjoy playing.”

“Would Standard let him go? Everything depends on the offer. Manchester United said Cristiano would not be sold.”

Wigan Not Interested In Going After Owen

According to John Edwards at the Daily Mail, Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan admitted that the club will not go after striker Michael Owen. He said,

“… we wouldn’t be interested in him …. His wages are too expensive, for one thing, and, for another, you have to ask whether he still has the urge, the bottle and the drive.”

“He’s looking a bit injury-prone these days, and he does love his horses. His wages will come down, but it would still be a hell of a lot for us to pay someone more than £25,000 a week.”

Manchester United To Offer Starlet An Extension

According to Football Spy at the Daily Mirror, Manchester United are set to offer 20-year-old midfielder Sam Hewson a one-year contract extension.

Bolton To Sign Portsmouth Midfielder

UPDATE: According to Sky Sports News, Bolton are set to sign Portsmouth midfielder Sean Davis on a free transfer. Davis’ contract with Portsmouth expires later this month.

February 1st, 2009 According to the Daily Mail, Bolton are set to sign Portsmouth midfielder Sean Davis for £2 million. Davis’ contract is set to run out this summer.

Wolves sign Hahnemann

UPDATE: According to Wolverhampton’s official website, Wolverhampton signed goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann to a one-year deal with an option for an extension.

June 11th, 2009 According to Football Spy at the Daily Mirror, Wolverhampton are set to sign Reading keeper Marcus Hahnemann. Hahnemann is set to become a free agent and Reading supposedly have not offered him a new deal.

Liverpool & Glen Johnson Update

UPDATE: David Prentice at Liverpool Echo and the Portsmouth News are both reporting that a deal has been agreed upon for Glen Johnson. However one is claiming the deal is for £17million while the other is claiming £18.5million.

June 16th, 2009 According to ESPN Soccernet, there are reports stating that Liverpool signed Portsmouth defender Glen Johnson for £18million.

June 14th, 2009 According to Sky Sports News, Portsmouth executive chairman Peter Storrie admitted that he will not stand in the way if a big club wants Glen Johnson. He also hinted that somebody tabled an offer for him. Storrie said,

“He [Glen Johnson] said, ‘If one of the big four come in with Champions League football, would you stand in my way?”

“I told him I couldn’t do that. Providing the deal is right for Portsmouth and Glen then we will look to try and do something in the right way.”

“It is very hard to try and hold people back when they have a chance to play in the Champions League. I accept that.”

When asked if an offer of between £15million and £18million had been tabled, Storrie said:

“You may not be a million miles away from the mark … I wouldn’t think it would be too long [before a deal is struck].”
