I have to admit that some of the transfer fees this summer have made me shake my head more than once. But the valuations of Peter Crouch and Darren Bent are totally baffling.
Spurs are interested in buying Peter Crouch from Portsmouth for a reported £9million. I know that there is a fire-sale going on at Pompey this summer but £9million for a former England center-forward who scored 16 goals in 34 games for his country and a Premiership strike rate of one goal in under every 3 games seems very cheap.
Pompey bought Crouch from Liverpool for £11million last summer, so they are losing money on the deal.
Compare that to Darren Bent who Spurs are trying to flog to Sunderland for £15m. How is the world is Darren Bent worth almost twice what Peter Crouch is worth? Did anyone see those three misses from Bent over the weekend against Celtic?
