Chelsea facing injury crisis

by David on November 16, 2009

When we last left Chelsea they had just beaten Manchester United to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to five points and everything looked great at the Bridge.

Then the injury big hit. First came the news that right-back Jose Bosingwa is out for three months after knee surgery. That was followed by the news that left-back Ashley Cole has a depressed fracture of the shin and he will miss several weeks of action.

Then came news from the International camps that Frank Lampard had pulled tore a muscle in his thigh and would be on the sidelines for a month.
If that was not bad enough, a scan of Didier Drogba’s ribs showed a break and now he will be out for three weeks also.

With several of Chelsea’s stars playing in the African Nations Cup in January, Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti will not be able to play his regular starting eleven until February!

Chelsea’s next three league games are against Wolves (H) and then two tricky away games to Arsenal and Manchester City.

It will be a race against time to see if any of the injured Chelsea stars will be for in time for those two big away games.
