Chelsea Can Go Back To The Office…

by Patton Hunnicutt

Because with live in a world of litigation and because people get all bent out of shape over the smallest things (that could easily be explained) and because litigation takes forever and lawyers are expensive (otherwise they wouldn’t bother to take forever) and because you can get any kind of suspension lifted while you’re waiting for an appeal it appears that Chelsea can do business as usual since the Court of Arbitration for Sport won’t be able to set a date for a hearing until February.

I don’t even think this has anything to do with the unusual signings, or the big money, or the suspension itself.  I feel like the FA is trying to level the playing field and since they won’t distribute money like they do in Major League Baseball then they have this ticky tack system where they can get you for just about anything and anybody can accuse you of anything.  (Granted it is still the best system in the world, but it is ticky-tack nonetheless.)

So, by trying to hold up Chelsea some other teams would have been able to close the gap with some smart signings, but now Chelsea is in business and they can extend their lead in the Premier League with this confidence booster of a ruling.

What I find amazing is that ManU has repeatedly exhibited “hand” while Chelsea has not and yet Chelsea is somehow 2 points up on the Premier League Table.  Do I have an explanation for this?  No, if you do I’d love to hear it.  If you asked me I’d the law of averages hasn’t worked the other side of the equation yet.  When that law of averages does get around the other end of the cycle I think we’ll find ManU running out in front and Chelsea lagging.  The only thing that is more apparent is the seeming desire of the Glazers to run the crew from Manchester like they run the Bucs of Tampa Bay…inconsistently.  Yes, they’ve been successful of late, but the Glazers just fired a coach that won a Super Bowl over in Tampa.

So, Chelsea’s in business.  Let me ask you this ManU fans…are you comfortable with this legacy hovering over your team right now?
