Yes, we’re doing this again, but I finally have it figured out…
Ok, so this thing with Fabio Capello is getting out of hand. Now Alex Ferguson is in the middle of this mayhem because Rooney hurt himself again in the English friendly with Egypt.
Now, here’s where I think we have some seriously backwards thinking. Fergie says that Fabio Capello isn’t to blame for Rooney’s injury because Rooney should have “taken care of it himself”. Ok, so what was Rooney supposed to do? Tell Capello–a maniac–that: Read more... (374 words, 4 images, estimated 1:30 mins reading time)

Can they repeat their 2009 glory?
The first trophy to be contested this season is the Carling Cup and it goes down today at Wembley. This is what I LOVE about European sports. There are so many ways to be successful during the season that it gets interesting for everybody. Aston Villa and United will square off to take the Carling Cup and that means that Aston Villa can redeem part of their larger FA Cup season with a Carling Cup win. Read more... In what was one of Chelsea’s better performances in Europe as they lost 2-1 to Inter Milan in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.
It took Inter only three minutes to score as Thiago Motta served Eto’o and an instinctive dummy from Sneijder let the ball roll through to Milito, who turned Terry before firing past a hapless Petr Cech.
Inter mostly limited Chelsea to long range shots, but the visitors did come close to scoring when Didier Drogba hit the underside of the crossbar with a fantastic 30-yard free kick. Read more... (290 words, 2 images, estimated 1:10 mins reading time)

On the field is where it’s at.
John Terry has asked that he be judged by happens on the field of play instead of by what happens in his personal life. On the one hand I want to say, “Amen, brother! Tell it all!”, and on the other hand I want to say, “Can you really expect that?” Read more... (339 words, 4 images, estimated 1:21 mins reading time)

Roy Keane totally put his old teammate on blast today when he started running his mouth about Mark Hughes being fired from Manchester City. Like the title says…I just love it when people say how much they hate someone else. For example…I HATE Shaq…HATE him (and I’m a Lakers fan) but I hate his guts. I really do.
So, when Roy Keane says of Hughes and City:
“I think when you’re involved with a club like United, as Sparky was over his career, you shouldn’t go to a club like City. I think you should try and get employment somewhere else. I think Sparky is probably better off.” Read more... (431 words, 4 images, estimated 1:43 mins reading time)
It appears that Everton is close to signing Landon Donovan to get him on a 3-month loan. As soon as I read this I had many questions. Many, many questions.
1. Is Landon Donovan really going to be able to help a club that is as pathetic as Everton right now?
No. Everton is showing us that their “way” isn’t working and now they want to bring in a guy who needed David Beckham so his team could LOSE the MLS Final to what amounted to an expansion team? I don’t get it. I know Landon is a good player and all that, but has anyone else noticed that USSoccer is thinking of adding Robbie Findley to their roster? (Do you think that’s because he made Donovan look like a kindergartener?) Read more... (361 words, 3 images, estimated 1:27 mins reading time)
I wake up this morning and read the scathing headlines about how some Red players are unhappy with the atmosphere in the locker room in Liverpool and I have to sigh and chuckle at the same time because I JUST wrote about this and here it is again staring us in the face. There’s two ways to look at this and both are not good for Liverpool. Read more... (404 words, 2 images, estimated 1:37 mins reading time)
Liverpool is out of the Champion’s League and their chief came out said that Rafa Benitez is not in jeopardy of being fired. I’m never going to call for anyone’s job, but I’m not going to sit here and act like this makes any sense at all. Christian Purslow gave a public vote of confidence to Rafa after the Reds crapped out of the Champion’s League in Group play. Purslow is quoted as saying:
“You can never predict last-minute goals, which have cost us dear in the Champions League.” “That’s no basis to make managerial decisions. Read more... (337 words, 4 images, estimated 1:21 mins reading time)
George Burley has been sacked as Scotland’s national team manager. The former Premier League Manager of the Year in 2001 could only muster three wins in fourteen appearances over his reign and Scotland was unable to qualify for even a second seed playoff knockout spot in the FIFA World Cup Qualifications this season. The club lost their final match of the qualifier 1-0 to the Netherlands which guaranteed their vacancy from South Africa this summer. Burley was scheduled to be under contract until 2012. Ok, so Chelsea scored 5 goals today in a shutout of Blackburn, and Tottenham lost to Stoke City. Plus, Aston Villa drew with Wolverhampton. I don’t get it…
This is the kind of league that should be easy to peg. Honestly. How hard is it for Chelsea to pick a direction? If they beat Blackburn 5-0 how come they can’t beat Aston Villa or Liverpool (other teams that aren’t as good as them)? What if you look at Tottenham? They come out of nowhere to stand at 3rd on the Premier League table and they lost to a so-so Stoke City team? Aston Villa puts themselves in very good position (tied with Man City for 5th on the table) but they draw with a, ugh, bad Wolverhampton squad. Read more...
