Perhaps Fernando Torres is leaving Liverpool? Perhaps he’s moving somewhere else in the EPL? Chelsea thinks it might be them. They seem to be ready to make a bid for him and some current players are quite happy about the prospects. Didier Drogba–their monster scorer says:
“I have heard the talk about Torres maybe coming in and I would welcome it, of course. Every time there is a new player coming here it’s making the club bigger and giving us a lot of strength. If there is a chance for him to come he will be welcome because any help is welcome!” Read more... (233 words, 2 images, estimated 56 secs reading time)
The thought before the Chelsea v Wigan game would be that is would be a nervy affair for Chelsea and the longer the game stayed scoreless the more pressure Chelsea would face.
But those predictions were thrown out the window when Anelka scored after six minutes at Stamford Bridge, you could feel the relief around the stadium and see then confidence in the Chelsea’s players faces. They were not going to be denied as they turned on a performance worthy of being champions as they thrashed Wigan 8-0. Read more... (255 words, 1 image, estimated 1:01 mins reading time)

Chelsea blew out Wigan 8-0 (after Wigan said they could do something “historic”–yeah right.)
The win clinched the EPL Title for the Blues after both United and Chelsea won on their final day. This gave Chelsea their first title in 4 years and snapped United’s title streak at 3.
With United in 2nd, Arsenal in 3rd and Tottenham in 4th e now have the English line-up for the 2010-2011 Champion’s League and it looks like we’re going to have a loaded Champion’s League AND a loaded World Cup. With Chelsea winning the EPL and their players having to play with United players one would think that the competitive fires would be burning extra bright. Read more... Well, here it is. Chelsea plays Wigan and it’s time to see who the Premier League Champion. This is the coolest season format on the planet. Every game matters and there are no playoffs. You don’t sneak your way in and then make a miracle run. You’ve got to be good ALL year or you have no chance.
United and Chelsea have made this into a 2-horse race all season. They’ve really made it difficult for other clubs to compete and now all United has to do is wait and probably watch Chelsea beat Wigan. Read more... (313 words, 2 images, estimated 1:15 mins reading time)

Wigan has a potential championship-deciding match with Chelsea this weekend. If Wigan can pull something out against Chelsea then they spoil Chelsea’s whole season in one feel swoop–and United would be ripe to step in and take the Premier League title from the Blues. However, this seems like a pipedream when a team that isn’t very good suddenly decides it wants to do something great. Roberto Martinez said so: Read more... United has put themselves back on top 79 points to Chelsea’s 77. With only a couple matches left the race for the EPL title is coming to a close. Right now every point counts and those points will come at a premium.
Chelsea gets Stoke City, Liverpool, and Wigan. United still has Sunderland and Stoke City left. One would think that these clubs would be ready to lay down, but I bet they’re chomping at the bit to spoil someone’s season. You see, if Chelsea wins out then they will win the EPL. However, if they stumble then United can put themselves on top for good. Read more... (310 words, 2 images, estimated 1:14 mins reading time)

With a Chelsea loss and a United win we have Chelsea with 77 points and United with 76 points. Now United has a chance–they are close and they need to keep closing. United has a chance to get closer with a slightly easier schedule than normal coming up–with the exception of Tottenham.
I think somehow they’re going to make this interesting because it seems that Chelsea is floundering at the wrong time and United is surging at the right time. With John Terry “off” again we all have to now wonder if I was wrong and all of Terry‘s off-field troubles were too much for him and he simply can’t get it back together. Read more... “At this moment of our season, nobody can make us lose our concentration or determination to win the title, only we can do this. I think it’s impossible that can happen. We have worked all season to be in the situation we’re in now. I hope Alex is correct but I don’t think so as every game is difficult to play.”
“Maybe you can say it will be easy but I haven’t played an easy game this season. No, it’s mind games, Ferguson is clever. But I don’t think that works, I’ve never done them. On paper, we are favourites against Bolton. But only on paper. It’s normal that Chelsea will win in theory but we need to achieve this. Read more... Portsmouth has pushed itself into the FA Cup Final against Chelsea with a thrilling win over Tottenham Hotspur. It’s one those things you can only read about in storybooks as Kevin Prince-Boateng had to pass a physical just to get on the field. THEN he had to put away a crucial goal to quash Tottenham and secure a spot at Wembley in the FA Cup Final against Chelsea.
Remember, this is the same club that is facing relegation AND has already been put under administration by the EPL. However, they can somehow pull together the strength to defeat the dreaded Spurs AND play Chelsea–the best team in the EPL–for the FA Cup Title. Read more... Didier Drogba is on the bench. The match is in the 18th minute as I type and Chelsea NEEDS to get something together to combat United–who sits atop the EPL table.
Now, Joe Cole has scored in the 20th minute and Chelsea needs to hold together their fragile momentum. It’s something very unique to sit so VERY close to your nearest opponent in the standings AND have to play them in that situation.
It’s also quite the problem that Didier Drogba sits on the bench because of injury and Chelsea is banking on momentum from a 7-0 beatdown of Aston Villa. Sure, you scored 7 goals–which is nearly impossible–but that doesn’t everything is well. ALL teams will have a bad day and you got Aston Villa’s in that 7-0 win. Read more...
